Leading Hen
Product Details
The Leading Hen looks as though she is about to walk out on the approaching gobbler. Like a sucker, he just can’t seem to let her go and feels the urge to get in front of her before she leaves. Use his instincts to get her back against him and point her in the direction that you would like him to go. She is also great at making other hens jealous. This is the favorite hen decoy of the DSD Crew!
Like all our turkey decoys, she is made out of our legendary A.C.E. Technology which means that she is built to take a beating. There is no inflation required, so her rugged body will always hold it’s natural shape. She can even withstand an accidental shotgun blast or broadhead through the body with only minimal damage. Made in the U.S.A.
Includes: (1) Leading Hen, (1) Hen Turkey Stake, and (1) Camo Bag with Shoulder Strap
Decoy Weight (Bag and Stake): 3lbs

This is my favorite of all of the DSD hen poses. For some reasons, hens in particular seem to gravitate to this decoy when various hen poses are presented in the same decoy spread. I am not entirely sure why, but those aggressive hens more often than not go to the Leading Hen. Of course the toms like the decoy as well. It makes for some great turkey action, especially if you film your hunts.

Dominant hens really take notice to this decoy. Works well in lieu of the submissive hen in high cover.
Harrison Peyton –
Most realistic decoy on the market. You don’t have to worry about blowing any of those decoys up. They are ready to go. I highly advise purchasing decoys from this company. American made and the customer service is the best on the market. I own several DSD and won’t purchase anything other than DSD.

This little lady has a very natural and real head position that looks just like a hen getting ready to move. I have definitely noticed it seems to pull hens to it and if a toms with em he’s not far. My favorite hen decoy by far and a great addition to the Dave Smith line!
Craig Young –
Had to have this decoy when it came out a few years ago. I use this posture as sort of a directional decoy and set it up in my flock as where I want turkeys to enter which ever set I have working at that time. Realism is unmatched! Even fooled an old hungry hawk one time who though he would just grab her in spine and take off with her. Yep, the durability of these decoys stands out when things like this happen, and other than a few groves in the back from the talons, the decoy is still working perfectly!

Wanted the best decoy that I can find for my 7 year old to use for youth weekend in Florida with weary Osceola turkeys. He has killed 6 gobblers in 5 years using this decoy! And all of them have been very close. None of them have spooked or knew that it was a decoy. Very tough and still looks new. Just purchased another one.
John Heiney –
If I were to take one decoy to the woods with me this would be it. I’ve seen more hens come into this decoy than any hen on the market. They will suck a stubborn henned up long beard in by attracting his hen first. She is also a great way to get live decoys in your spread as well. See for yourself!

Best hen decoy I’ve ever used! Hens love to pick a fight and drag the longbeards right with them.

I have used this leading hen and the upright hens solo and together for 4 years now. I also use the 3/4 jake with this set depending on time on year and location. Hunting 4-5 states a year can be as challenging and rewarding all at the same time. Having a product like this to depend on makes the hunts the most successful and enjoyable.
Ranse Reynolds –
Have used this hen for several years now and it brings in the toms every time. Pair it with a jake. Awesome details. Highly recommend.
Michael Little –
Great decoy. Purchased my first DSD decoys last year and they are awesome! We harvested 5 birds over them last spring in Kentucky. Birds react awesome to them. Realism at its best!
David Proffitt –
I purchased this decoy three years back. I believe it IS the BEST looking ~ most realistic decoy available. Killed several Toms with her alone and a few more with this decoy facing a fanning jake ~My favorite set up!
Hunter Trentham –
Very realistic. Shot two birds using only this decoy on a trip to western Kansas last year.
Timothy Billet –
I have the feeding hen, the leading hen and the 3/4 jake. I absolutely love them! My only beef with them is that they are tough to carry in. However, I knew what I was getting into when I bought them. And the fact that I know I have the best looking decoys short of the real thing far or weighs that issue. So thanks DSD!

I’m going to give this decoy a great review because there is no wrong way about it I have not hunted over her yet but the upright hen has proven great for me since she has been in my arsenal for the past 4 hrs so I can’t imagine this one to do any wrong thanks for the great products.

I have turkey hunted with my Dad for many years.. When I started hunting, the only decoys available were the flexible foam style decoys. When my Dad started using DSD Decoys we saw a major difference in how Toms acted towards the DSD’s. I have the Leading Hen and when paired with my Dad’s 3/4 Strut Jake it creates a deadly combination that the longbeards cannot resist. Thanks DSD for producing the most realistic decoys available today!

ive been turkey hunting for a couple of decades and have gone through dozens of different decoys. dave’s decoys are by far the best at drawing in older and wiser toms. I had bow hunted a stubborn old tom for 3 consecutive seasons. I know it was the same tom year after year because the first year I shot at him as he was making a quick retreat from my setup with a competitors decoys and missed but took out a few tail feathers that left a very distinctive “hole”. I could not get that tom to come within shooting distance again. . I even tried a decoy that was set up on a small platform that I could move back and forth to make it more “lifelike”. the following season I was met with the same results. that tom would come into the field I was set up in but simply strut without coming anywhere near shooting range. I then purchased one of dave’s leading hens for the “third” season. that tom came right in without hesitation and immediately mounted the decoy. I was so mesmerized at the entertainment that I decided not to shoot and watch how long this would go on. sure enough that old tom would mount, leave for short stints and keep coming back. only time I’ve seen a tom hang around a decoy when hens nearby were spitting out seductive purrs.
I have now hunted several seasons with those hen decoys and will never use a competitors. absolutely the best on the market at bringing in reluctant toms.

Best decoy I have ever used! I hunt spooky easterns and it works more times than not! Trust me buy it.
William Page –
Leading hen decoy! My favorite turkey decoy to use at any and all times throughout the season. Toms cant seem to ignore it and I’ve had more hens get feisty with it than anything! Great products from a great company!
David Stallings –
I strictly bow hunt and these decoys changed the game when hunting turkeys. I own three of the hens and cannot say enough good things. I f you want to get turkeys close and keep them comfortable until the shot then DSD is the only option in spring or the fall. worth every single penny!
Jacob Kennedy –
I use this hen in Oregon, and my friends use he avian X series. We tried with the avain X hens first on a long beard and he would not close the gap. Came back the same day and got him to come into the meadow to see my leading hen, and he came charging in and mounted her! No better hen on the market! You get what you pay for!
Bruce haffner –
I had one of the first hen decoys the hard ones I shot so many turkeys off of her and Finally she broke in one day when I get enough money I sure will replace her with a new Dave Smith decoy she Sparked the eye of a lot of the hardheaded Tom’s
Ben Cox –
I’ve had an upright hen since the first year they were made. Bought a feeding hen a little later and then picked up the leading hen last year. All these decoys are as realistic as can be and the size and weight are better than other comparable decoys on the market. Little smaller and a lot lighter. Seems they get better looking every time I buy one.
Jake from Wisco –
Hands down the best there is! So many different occasions that the leading hen has been able to draw in those boss hens that usually shy away from decoys. Detail like no other. I won’t use anything else.
Lynn Frederick –
This is one of my best decoys. I have been setting her up with your Jake decoy following about 6 feet behind. Drives toms into a rage to get her first. She is more visible than the breeder hen. This one is definitely a keeper.
Brock Lowell –
In 31 years of Hunting Wild Turkey hunting, by far the best decoys I’ve ever owned. My friends and family and myself have killed over the mating pair, fielding hen and now the alert hen. This week in VA I killed a gorgeous beard hen and a long beard over the alert hen! I’m using her on an extremely heavy hunted WMA and the alert hen is safe and straight deadly?! BTW I own 3/4 strut Jake but I’ haven’t used him yet, he’s too life like to uses on this WMA where guys will park right on top of you. I will be hunting him in NY & VT this year!

Very realistic decoy love how the field stake slides into the bottom of decoy for easy storage but could see that as a issue for the hole getting worn out and maybe stake falling out but very very awesome decoy I ordered the goose Decoys and a feeding hen along with a 3/4 strut jake super stoked!!!!
